Man Utd looking for ‘compromise’ over Varane’s €50m valuation

Manchester United are looking to reach a ‘compromise’ with Real Madrid over the club’s €50m valuation of Raphael Varane.

Manchester United have been encouraged in their pursuit of the France international following talks with the defender’s representatives over personal terms, with Varane having entered the final year of his contract at the Bernabeu.

Despite the 28-year-old’s contract situation, Real are understood to be demanding a fee of around €50m for the World Cup winner, a figure deemed too high for the Red Devils at present given their commitment to the £73m signing of Jadon Sancho.

According to ESPN, Varane is Manchester United’s ‘priority’, but will look to reach a ‘compromise’ with the Spanish side this week, though will move on to alternative targets should an agreement not be reached.

Meanwhile, the Guardian are reporting that Varane is interested in a move to the Premier League and that a bid from United is imminent following ‘amicable’ discussions with Real Madrid last week, with the club confident a deal can be agreed.

Varane is currently on holiday following France’s Euro 2020 campaign, but has spoken to Real Madrid and is keen to depart on good terms following a decade in the Spanish capital.

Manchester United are also interested in signing Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid to strengthen their options at full-back before the closure of the transfer window, whilst there is also interest in highly-rated Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, though the ESPN report says that the Old Trafford outfit ‘expect him to move to Spain or PSG’.
