
Manchester City signs Rayan Cherki from Lyon
Manchester City has signed France international Rayan Cherki from Lyon, the Premier League club announced Tuesday.

Cherki signs with Manchester City
Cherki signed a five-year deal, as City will pay an initial fee of €36 million ($41.1 million).
The 21-year-old was impressive in his international debut for France against Spain on Thursday.
ESPN reported that ther English and German clubs showed interest in Cherki, but the forward was won over by Guardiola during discussions.

“This is a dream for me,” Cherki said in a City statement. “Honestly, to be joining a club like Manchester City and have the opportunity to make the next step in my career here is something very, very special.
“I have worked so hard for this all my life. I love this sport, and I can’t wait to develop further here in Manchester with Pep and his backroom staff.”
Cherki has scored 29 goals in 185 appearances with Lyon.
City remains active in signing players
City has been active in signing additional talents in the summer window.
Left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri also signed in Etihad from Wolves.
Guardiola’s side will open their Club World Cup campaign against Moroccan side Wydad AC in Philadelphia on June 18.
Meanwhile, Cherki will be available for City in the Club World Cup.

“Everyone knows how good City are — they have been so successful for many years now,” Cherki added. “The responsibility to help the team continue winning is something I want to embrace.”
