Manchester United 4-1 Real Betis – Highlights
Put the humiliation at the hands of Liverpool behind, an unchanged Man United side pulled a powerful performance as they cruise past La Liga side Betis and set one foot in the quarterfinals.
The on-form Marcus Rashford did it again, with his very first few finish early in the game at the 6th minute, fired home the opener against former Barcelona and Man City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
This is the English striker 26th goal this season, exactly same amount of goals of last two seasons combined, that’s how good he has been under Erik Ten Hag.
However, Ayoze Perez’s equalizer at the 32nd minute was nothing less impressive than Rashford’s opener, which was a smooth finish followed by a fine first touch.
Second half was strong for the home team, as Ten Hag’s men took full control by scoring two goals within less than 10 minutes.
Antony, who made little to none impact during the first half, sent the home fans wild with a beautiful top-bin finish at the 52nd minute.
Antony cut inside onto his left foot and curling beyond the reach of Bravo from outside the box.
Six minutes later, Red Devil’s best player from the start of the first leg Bruno Fernandez headed home to ensure a firm lead. Man United captain was almost without any man-mark when he hit the ball from a Luke Shaw’s corner.
Bravo was very good as the Chile shot-stopper as he denied Rashford and Wout Weghorst during the first half, but he could not do any better when the Dutch striker tucked home on the rebound after Scott McTominay’s effort was saved.
United on course for the quarter-finals with four goals ahead of the return leg at Seville a few weeks later.
Next up for Man United and Betis
After the convincing performance at the Europa League, Ten Hag’s men will look to improve in the Premier League when the league returns on Sunday as they host Southampton.
Betis are on the road against Villarreal in bid to find a way in La Liga’s top four.
