UNITED TO RESUME TALKS TO LAND MAZRAOUI AFTER FAILED WEST HAM NEGOTIATIONS

Furthermore, expect United to resume talks to land Mazraoui after the full-back’s negotiations with West Ham fell through, a source told ESPN.

The 26-year-old Moroccan was supposed to transfer to West United for £15 million until negotiations broke down at the last minute.

This enabled United to resume talks with Bayern for a deal to acquire Mazraoui.

West United, meanwhile, has turned their sights on landing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Moreover, United is committed to boosting their full-back depth under manager Erik ten Hag.

Galatasaray showed interest in Wan-Bissaka but United asked for around £20 million to release him.

That forced the Turkish side to drop their interest in Wan-Bissaka.

MAZRAOUI-TEN HAG REUNION POSSIBLE AFTER AJAX STINT

Moreover, a Mazraoui-Ten Hag reunion became possible after the two initially hooked up with Ajax in 2018.

For Ten Hag to land Mazraoui, United needs to send Wan-Bissaka to West Ham.

Furthermore, both Mazraoui and Wan-Bissaka are valued in the region of £15 million.

Incidentally, Wan-Bissaka is in the final year of his United contract since he moved to Old Trafford for £50 million in 2019.

Mazraoui’s arrival at United is aimed at serving as a mentor to the 24-year-old Antony.

The Brazilian right-winger played with Mazraoui on Ajax’s right flank when they won titles during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.

TEN HAG IN SEARCH OF LEFT-BACK WITH SHAW, MALACIA HAMPERED BY INJURIES

Meanwhile, Ten Hag may also be in search of a left-back for United after Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were hampered by injuries.

Shaw missed several matches last season with multiple injuries while Malacia underwent double knee surgery.

Furthermore, Malacia returned to fitness training at Carrington but he failed to join the team’s pre-season tour to the US.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro were downed by injuries in United’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Ten Hag has yet to learn the severity of the injuries to his two key players.

“We were very careful, especially with Lenny (Yoro). He did only 50% of the training sessions,” Ten Hag said.

“That is very disappointing that he came off but let’s be positive and see what is coming out,” he added.
