PSG reacted ‘violently’ to Mbappe leaving
Mbappe, 25, officially confirmed that he signed with Real Madrid on Monday.
During the news conference with the France national team, Mbappe said certain people at PSG made him “unhappy.
“I wasn’t unhappy at PSG, that would be a slap in the face of the people who defended me — I have always been happy,” Mbappe said.
“But certain things made me unhappy. But a player like me couldn’t show that because I am a leader, so I tried to be as positive as possible. The coach, the players, and the employees of the club supported me. And it would be bad form to come and moan and say that I was unhappy. But certain things and people made me unhappy.”
The French striker also revealed that the club told him ‘violently’ that he would be benched for the rest of the season.
However, it was PSG manager Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos who intervened.
“They [the club] made me understand that I wouldn’t play, they told me to my face, they told me violently.”
“Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. I wouldn’t have set foot on the pitch again without them.”
“Just the fact I was playing was a great source of pride, but it’s certain that next year I won’t be satisfied with a year like that.”
‘Dream come true’
Nonetheless, Mbappe is excited to begin his new chapter at the Bernabeu.
After all, playing for Real Madrid is a ‘dream come true’ for him.
“It’s an immense pleasure, a dream come true. It’s very exciting,” Mbappe continued.
“I am very happy, relieved, and extremely proud. This is the club where I have always dreamed of being, so I want to thank you. I am very excited about the idea of going to this great club, the best in the world.”
“I feel very humble at the prospect and would like to thank all the people who have sent me messages and all those who have contributed to this operation.”
