NAVARRO, ANISIMOVA TOPPLE FOES
Navarro and Anisimva toppled their respective foes, with the former doing it in front of her home fans.
Furthermore, Navarro – who grew up on Charleston’s Daniel Island courts – defeated fellow American Ahslyn Krueger, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Moreover, the 23-year-old world No.11 overcame a slow start and an opening set loss to take out the No.15 seed.
Navarro said playing at home may give her an advantage but it comes with pressure to win all the time.
“So being home and then having a tournament at home in that normal place of comfort and relaxed quality is definitely weird,” Navarro said.
“Definitely have to remind myself when I go to sleep at night, OK, I’m in a tournament. Like, gotta stay focused. Can’t totally relax,” she added.

AMANDA OUSTS PUTINTSEVA
Anisimova followed Navarro into the next round after she defeated Yulia Putintseva, 6-4, 6-4.
Moreover, the 23-year-old world No.16 assured she wont be dragged to a three-setter by dominating her No.10 seed opponent throughout.
Furthermore, Anisimova improved to 3-1 on her head-to-head matchup against Putintseva.
It was also the American’s second win over the Kazakhstani in Charleston, beating her first in 2022.
Putintsova was also undone not just by Anisimova’s consistency but with 25 unforced errors.
EMMA DESCRIBES AMANDA AS ‘REALLY TOUGH,’ BRACES FOR QUARTERS MATCHUP
Navarro described Anisimova as “really tough” as the two will collide in the last eight.
Furthermore, the No.11 has not won in her two head-to-head matchups against her compatriot.
Moreover, Navarro hopes her game plan against Krueger will also work against her upcoming opponent.
“Amanda (Anisimova) is really tough. Big serve, big groundstrokes. Kind of similar, I would say, to the way Ashlyn (Krueger) plays,” Navarro said.
“So, game plan is probably going to stay pretty similar, just try to be really strong and aggressive on returns and maybe serve a little bit better,” she added.
