NBA ALL-STAR GAME MAY FEATURE USA VS THE WORLD MATCHUP NEXT YEAR

The NBA All-Star Game (ASG) may feature team of American players against a group of international stars next year.

Furthermore, the league noted mixed reviews from players, fans, and journalists after the recent All-Star weekend in Oakland.

Moreover, league officials can just look at hockey to gauge if this concept works.

Canada hosted the 4 Nations Face-Off hockey tournament in Montreal last week, with the US assured of a finals berth.

Warriors forward Draymond Green is open for the NBA to try out and follow hockey’s lead.

“Sometimes things just get old and kind of need a facelift,” he added.

“I think what’ll be interesting to see is how this 4 Nations thing turns out in hockey. If that turns out great, might have to peek an eye,” he added.

WEMBY, GIANNIS WELCOME SIGHT OF USA VS THE WORLD FOR ASG 2026

Moreover, Victor Wembanyama and Giannis Antetokonmpo welcome the sight of a USA vs the World matchup for ASG 2026 in Los Angeles.

Furthermore, Wembanyama cited raising the stakes as basis that such a concept could work.

“I would love to. My opinion is that it’s more purposeful. There’s more pride in it. More stakes,” the San Antonio Spurs’ 7-foot-4 wunderkid said.

Antetokounmpo explained that a USA vs the World matchup would bring “more extra juice to compete.”

“I would love that. For sure, I’d take pride in that,” the Milwaukee Bucks’ All-Star forward said.

“I always compete, but I think that will give me a little bit more extra juice to compete,” he added.

OAKLAND ASG NEW FORMAT, LONG DELAYS DRAWS MIXED COMMENTS FROM PLAYERS

The new format that was tried in Oakland for ASG 2025 has drawn mixed reviews from players who took part in the three-day event.

Furthermore, most players took issue with the long breaks during and between games.

Moreover, Atlanta Hawks’ guard Trae Young had his disdain for the short games in the four-team mini-tournament and the long breaks.

“I didn’t like the breaks. The games were so short,” he said.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilegous-Alexander was also not a fan of the long breaks, which featured comedian Kevin Hart.

“I would rather play without breaks,” he said.

“I would say it’s not ideal to stop like that if you want guys to be physical. I think guys were still out there having fun,” Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown added.
