GEORGE, MAXEY ‘ALL-IN’ TO HELP EMBIID LEAD SIXERS TO NBA TITLE

Furthermore, George and Maxey are “all-in” to help superstar Joel Embiid lead the Sixers to an NBA title.

George acknowledged that he has been a fan of both Embiid and Maxey from a distance even when he was still with the Los Angeles Clippers.

“I’ve always been a fan of Tyrese and Joel from afar, and Joel has secretly been one of my closest All-Star friends,” Embiid said on his introductory news conference on Tuesday.

“So I’m all-in. My family’s here all-in, and I’m excited, and looking forward to this next opportunity,” he added.

Moreover, George was impressed with the other player movements 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey did during free agency.

Aside from George, Morey added Eric Gordon, Andre Drummond, Caleb Martin, and Kyle Lowry to surround Embiid, George, and Maxey with a potent supporting cast.

Add veteran guard Reggie Jackson to that list as he intends to claim waivers from the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday before joining the Sixers.

MAXEY WAITS A YEAR BEFORE SIGNING LUCRATIVE EXTENSION TO GIVE SIXERS FLEXIBILITY

Moreover, Maxey waited for a year before he signed a lucrative extension to give the Sixers cap flexibility.

That led Morey to sign George and the rest of the veteran free agents and fit them to the salary cap.

It was a major sacrifice for Maxey, who only earned USD4. 3 million on his fourth-year option from is previous deal.

On the other hand, the cat-quick scoring guard made it to the Eastern Conference All-Stars and became the NBA’s Most Improved Player on the sam 2023-24 season.

“I want to really thank Tyrese for his patience. This offseason wouldn’t have been possible without him,” Morey said.

“And by being patient, he allowed us to put this offseason together and really put in this position to be one of of the very few legitimate contenders in the league this year,” he added.

SIXERS WANT MAXEY TO SHARE LEADERSHIP ROLE WITH EMBIID AND GEORGE

Furtherore, the Sixers wants Maxey to share a leadership role with Embiid and George despite still being one of the youngest players in the team.

Sixers coach Nick Nurse and assistant Rico Hines continue to encourage Maxey to embrace a more active leadership role.

“Coach Nurse and Rico were on me about using my voice more last year and trying to step into that leadership role,” Maxey said.

“Joel’s been on me about it. ‘You’ve got to use your voice. You lead by example, but you’re also good at connecting with guys and encouraging guys,” he added.

The 23-year-old took advantage of the breaks that went his way, from Ben Simmons holding out on camp to being taken by James Harden on his wing.

By the time the Sixers traded Harden to the Clippers last year, Maxey was already ready for the big time.
