Newcastle boss Howe ‘very happy’ with club amid England job links

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said he remains “very happy” with the club amid reports linking him to the England coaching job.

Howe speaks on England job opening

The Football Association are currently looking to fill the role that Gareth Southgate left, who resigned from his post after England’s defeat in EURO 2024.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is also linked to replace Southgate.

Despite all the rumors, Howe said he remains committed with Newcastle, who are currently in Germany for their training camp.

“Really, there has been no thought in my mind on anything else and I have been very committed to the job here,” Howe told BBC Radio.

“For me, as long as I am happy and feel supported and feel free to do the work that I love to do at Newcastle, I’ll be very happy. And I am very happy.”

“I’m absolutely honoured and privileged to be manager of Newcastle. I hope that is for many, many years. I am determined to win a trophy for the football club. That is in my psyche every day.”

FA looks for Gareth Replacement

The job description specifies that the coach should be capable of leading the team to “win a major tournament.”

The Three Lions have not won a major trophy since the 1966 World Cup.

In addition, the FA stated that a candidate must “have significant experience in English football, with a strong track record of delivering results in the Premier League and/or leading international competitions.”

The deadline for the coaching application is August 2, before the Nations League kicks off in September.
