OLMO’S BARCELONA DEBUT SET AGAINST RAYO VALLECANO PENDING LA LIGA APPROVAL

Furthermore, Olmo’s Barcelona debut is set when the club takes on Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday, sources told ESPN.

Moreover, Barcelona will still need to await La Liga’s approval of the temporary registration filed by the latter to pave the way for Olmo’s debut.

The 26-year-old Spanish midfielder has yet to play for Barca this season after missing the club’s first two matches.

Olmo awaits his registration to be processed with La Liga as Barca continues to cope with its financial struggles.

The 5-foot-9 Terrassa native arrived from German side RB Leipzig through a £55 million (USD61 million) transfer fee during the summer.

CHRISTENSEN’S INJURY TO CLEAR UP CAP SPACE FOR BARCA TO ACCOMMODATE OLMO

Moreover, an injury to Andreas Christensen will clear up cap space for Barca to accommodate Olmo.

Furthermore, Barca can exceed their spending limit if a player is ruled out for a substantial amount of time.

This is specified in Article 77 of La Liga’s Regulations for the Preparation of Budgets.

However, the final paperwork still needs to be cleared pending La Liga approval to make way for Olmo’s Barca’s debut.

Incidentally, Barca saw the departures of Ilkay Gundongan, Vitore Roque, Mika Faye, and Clement Lenglet the past week.

However, these moves were still not enough to let Olmo play with the club.

ROQUE, MARTINEZ PRECEDES BARCA USING ARTICLE 77 IN THE PAST

Furthermore, Barca resorting to Article 77 is not new for the club.

Moreover, the team used the provision to allow Roque to be registered to temporarily replace the injured Gavi last winter.

On the other hand, center-back Inigo Martinez was only registered earlier this month after Ronald Araujo was injured.

Araujo’s salary space was utilized by Barca to accommodate Martinez.

Meanwhile, La Liga is expected to announce the new spending limits after the transfer window closes this week.

Incidentally, Barca already dropped to just over £200 million (USD223 million) in spending earlier this year.
