It was a tight El Clasico between the two Spanish giants as always, which was only separated by Militao’s own goal.
The Brazilian went straight into the infamous record of the Clasico by registering the fourth own goal this century three of which have favoured Barca after Ivan Helguera’s in May 2002 and Raphael Varane’s in February 2019.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men were actually having a the superior possessions, but unable to covert them at home.

The Brazilian received a yellow card for UFC-esque tackle against Frenkie de Jong, which he was absolutely gut about.
Despite Madrid dominating early on, it was Barcelona who took the lead in the 26th minute, thanks to a nice strings of touches before Kessie’s smart smove put him one on one with Thibaut Courtois.
The keeper saved the Barca midfielder’s shot, only to see it hit Militao and went under Dani Carvajal’s legs and then in the back of the net.
The capital club pressed to find the equalizer, but the visitor’s defense stood well with Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo solidly performed.
Vinicius saw his effort blocked by Araujo early in the second half, but Barca could have double the lead 18 minutes from time.
Ansu Fati’s clumsy move blocked Franck Kessi to score another one for Blaugrana as the no.10 blocked the shot in the second half largely dominated by the hosts.
Kessie met Torres’ cut-back but saw his goal-bound shot deflected wide by substitute Fati with Courtois stranded.
The lead was safe as Xavi’s side held on until the final whistle.
Real Madrid had as many as 13 shots in the game but failed to score in an evening that saw Marc-Andre ter Stegen not really busy.

The second leg is due at Camp Nou on April, for now, the concentration for Barca is only with La Liga action with Valencia’s visit since they were already out of Europa League.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid traveled to Real Betis this weekend in bid to narrow down the gap with first place on the standings Barca.
