Ronaldo still open on Champions League return
During Thursday’s UEFA Champions League draw in Monaco, Ronaldo was presented a special award for being the tournament’s all-time leading scorer with 140 goals.
The 39-year-old hasn’t played in the Champions League since March 2022, heading to the Saudi Pro League the same year.
Although Ronaldo plans to play out his remaining playing years with Al Nassr, the Portuguese hasn’t ruled out a return to Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
“I play Asian [Champions] League, don’t forget that,” said Ronaldo, who played for Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
“For me it is a pleasure to be here. Thank you for this amazing award it means a lot to me,” Ronaldo said.
“As you know, Champions League it’s the highest in football. I had an opportunity, not only you know the record speaks for itself, but I don’t mean that, I mean the pleasure to play that competition… it’s our motivation.”
“Football… you never know what’s going to happen, let’s see what the future brings.”
Champions League legend
Ronaldo won his first Champions League crown in 2008 with Manchester United.
The superstar forward added four more Champions League crowns during his time with Real Madrid.
Ronaldo is the first five-time winner in the competition’s history since 1992.
He has also finished as the leading scorer in seven separate Champions League seasons.
