SABALENKA DETHRONES SWIATEK, ADVANCES TO ROLAND GARROS FINAL FOR FIRST TIME

Sabalenka dethrones Swiatek, 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-0, in their mouth-watering semifinal to advance to the final at Roland Garros for the first time.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old Belarussian world No.1 relied on her power game and aggressiveness to deny her world No.2 Polish rival a fourth-straight title in Paris.

Moreover, Sabalenka resumes her bid to win her fourth major title after winning two at the Australian Open and one at the US Open.

“It feels incredible, but I also understand that the job is not done yet,” the Belarussian said.

“She’s (Swiatek) the toughest opponent, especially on the clay, especially at Roland Garros. I’m proud that I was able to get this win,” she added.

SWIATEK’S 26-MATCH WIN STREAK SNAPPED

Swiatek was also denied to sustain her 26-match winning streak after her loss Thursday.

Moreover, the 24-year-old Polish star remains in search of a new major title after winning at Paris last year.

Furthermore, she was grateful to come back at Roland Garros and go on a deep run every year.

“I love playing here, so for sure I’m happy I was fortunate enough to play so many great tournaments here. Even this one, I played better than weeks before,” Swiatek said.

“So I’m just happy that I have this place to come back to every year and just try to push myself,” she added.

GAUFF ENDS BOISSON’S DREAM RUN IN PARIS

Gauff ended Frenchwoman Lois Boisson’s dream run in Paris with a 6-1, 6-2 win in the other semifinal.

Furthermore, the American world No.2 hopes to repeat her 2023 US Open final feat, where she defeated Sabalenka for her first major at 19 years old.

Moreover, Gauff ensures Paris will witness the women’s No.1 vs No.2 in the final since the 2018 Australian Open.

At that time, No.2 Caroline Wozniacki beat No.1 Simona Halep to win the title at Melbourne.

“It’s always the plan to start strong. I knew it was important today,” Gauff said.

“She’s (Boisson) an incredible player. She proved to be one of the best players in the world, especially on clay,” she added.
