‘SATCHI’ OUT OF SUDIRMAN CUP 2025 DUE TO ILLNESS

India’s “SatChi” is out of Sudirman Cup 2026 due to illness.

Furthermore, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty – more collectively known as “SatChi,”will miss the biennial tournament, dampening India’s title hopes.

Moreover, “SatChi” was named by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) in its original 14-man lineup sent to organizers.

However, the reigning Asian Games men’s doubles champions and top Indian pair pulled out of the tournament.

Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar rethinasabapathi were named as their replacements.

SEN, PRANNOY TO LEAD MEN’S SQUAD; SINDHU TOWS WOMEN’S SINGLES LINEUP

Lakshya Sen and HR Prannoy headline India’s men’s singles squad to the tournament set in Xiamen, China, from April 27 to May 4.

Moreover, Sen and Prannoy continue their reign as India’s top two men’s singles shuttlers as they hope to go on a deep run in Xiamen.

Furthermore, PV Sindhu and Anupama Upadyaya were named to the women’s singles category.

Sindhu seeks to bounce back after getting an early exit at the Badminton Asia Championships 2025 recently.

Notably absent for India’s women’s singles is Malvika Bansod, whose slot was taken by Upadyaya for the upcoming tournament.

INDIA GROUPED WITH INDONESIA, DENMARK, ENGLAND

India has been grouped with Indonesia, Denmark, and England in Xiamen.

Furthermore, the South Asian nation hopes to come out of Group D and go on a deep run after India was ousted in the group stage in 2023.

Moreover, India last reached the Sudirman Cup quarterfinals in the 2011 and 2017 editions.

Meanwhile, Taisha Crasto and Priya Konjengbam were named as India’s women’s doubles pair.

Dhruv Kapila and Shruti Mishra will join Sathish Kumar and Aadya Variyath as India’s mixed doubles pairs for the event.
