Sevilla appear to mock Real Madrid boycotting Ballon d’Or ceremony because of Vinicius snub

Sevilla mocked Real Madrid after the reigning La Liga champions boycotted the Ballon d’Or ceremony because of Vinicius Jr snub as Rodri won the honorable prize.

The Seville-based side’s social media account poked fun by posting on their X account, stating that their admin would not attend France Football’s Ballon d’Or ceremony since none of their players won the award. Sevilla’s media team wrote:

“BREAKING: Admin will NOT travel to Paris as Admin has been told they will NOT win the Ballon d’Or.”

Sevilla mocked Real Madrid on Vinicius Jr snubbed the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

Los Blancos appeared to boycott the gala in Paris because their winger, Vini, did not win the men’s award.

The Brazilian winger enjoyed an astonishing 23/24 season and had been long tipped to win the France Football award. However, Man City’s midfielder Rodri was announced as the winner on the night of the ceremony.

According to ESPN, the La Liga giants consider the decision ‘shameful’ and a ‘historic robbery.’

The 24-year-old Vinicius played a vital role during Madrid’s 23/24 campaign with the UEFA Champions League title, La Liga, and Supercopa de Espana. Vinicius scored 24 times and assisted 11 times in 39 games across all competitions.

Real Madrid source made a statement in response to their their decision not to join the Paris ceremony. Vinicius’ side suggests that Dani Carvajal should win Ballon d’Or if not the Brazilian himself.
