SHI EDGES CHRISTIE IN THREE SETS IN 64 MINUTES
Shi edges Christie, 21-16, 17-21, 21-8, before a full Chinese crowd in a three-set match that lasted 64 minutes.
Furthermore, China’s world No.1 men’s singles shuttler was dragged into a decider after his Indonesian opponent took the middle set.
Moreover, Shi was aggressive in the third set by winning the first six points.
Christie closed in at 8-4 before Shi scored eight points in a row to seal his Group B opening day match.
“I won because I played with better patience. My opponent (Christie) is great on both offense and defense,” Shi said.
“I have spent my lesson from our previous battle. I tried to do better in transition,” he added.

AN OPENS WOMEN’S SINGLES CAMPAIGN BY BEATING SUPANIDA; AKANE LOSES
Furthermore, An Se-young opened the women’s singles campaign by beating Thailand’s Supanida Katethong of Thailand, 21-14, 21-16.
