Sinner likes the “windy” conditions in Melbourne and the “amazing” crowd after 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 over De Minaur.
Furthermore, the Italian world No.1 was appreciative and relieved of the atmosphere in Melbourne despite him ousting Australia’s last hope in the men’s singles category.
Moreover, Sinner described the crowd as “amazing” despite knowing they’re rooting against him.
“I like the conditions here to play, and the crowd is amazing. Today was very, very windy, in the evening dropped a little bit the wind, so it was a bit easier to play,” Sinner said.
“It was very respectful today, knowing that playing Alex (De Minaur) here, it’s not easy,” he added.
DE MINAUR DISAPPOINTED, SAYS HE ‘WANTED TO DO WELL HERE’
Moreover, De Minaur was disappointed for his home fans, as he “wanted to do well here.”
Furthermore, the 25-year-old world No.8 has lost all of his past 10 meetings against Sinner.
“The whole country wanted me to do well. I wanted to do well here,” De Minaur said.
“I would have loved to do more today, but this is what happens sometimes in tennis,” he added.
Australia has not seen a local favorite reach the semifinals in men’s singles since Lleyton Hewitt two decades ago.

Furthermore, Ben Shelton will next face Sinner after he beat Lorenzo Sonego, 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6.
Moreover, the 22-year-old American later slammed the conduct of interviews from broadcasters in Melbourne the past few days, admitting that he was “shocked.”
“I’ve been a little bit shocked this week with how players have been treated by the broadcasters,” Shelton said.
“I feel like broadcasters should be helping us grow our sport and help these athletes who just won matches on the biggest stage enjoy one of their biggest moments,” he added.
The American noted that interviews with Serbian 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and Vietnamese-American Learner Tien, after he upset Daniil Medvedev, that the interviewers were “disrespectful” to them.
