SINNER RESUMES SURGE IN ITALY AFTER BEATING DE JONG

Sinner resumes his surge in Italy after beating Jesper de Jong, 6-4, 6-2.

Furthermore, the 23-year-old Italian world No.1 took a quick 4-1 lead in the opening set but allowed De Jong to tie it at 4-4.

Moreover, Sinner regained his form in time before he sustained the effort in the second set to extend his win streak to 23 matches dating back to October.

“”I felt like I started the match very well and then I had a big drop,” Sinner said.

“I tried to understand what was going on. Then fortunately I broke him on 4-all again, which then gave me the confidence to continue,” he added.

DE MINAUR TOPS DELLIEN AMID OFF-COURT DISTRACTIONS

Alex de Minaur topped Hugo Dellien, 6-4, 6-4, amid a couple of off-court distractions.

Moreover, the 26-year-old Australian world No.7 had yto deal with a spectator who got sick and an Italian Air Force’s acrobatic team flyover in the first set.

Furthermore, he expects to “be a little better mentally” to hurdle such distractions next time.

“I didn’t handle it very well, because I got broken straight away,” De Minaur said.

“I did well to bounce back and get the break back, but I’ve got to be a little bit better mentally to not let those things, outside factors affect me,” he added.

GAUFF TAKES DOWN RADUCANU

Gauff takes down Raducanu, 6-1, 6-2, to reach the quarterfinals for the second-straight year.

Furthermore, the 21-year-old American world No.3 improved to 2-0 in her head-to-head duel against her British opponent.

Moreover, Gauff looks to improve as she next faces Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva.

“I think today [it] was the reason why I won the match. Especially on this surface, I think I can do a lot with it,” Gauff said.

Andreeva advanced after she pulled off a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 victory over No.22 Clara Tauson.
