SINNER ‘THE BEST RIGHT NOW’ DESPITE ALCARAZ’S EDGE IN HEAD-TO-HEAD MATCHUPS
Sinner is “the best right now” despite Alcaraz’s edge in their head-to-head matchups.
Furthermore, the Spanish world No.3 cited the Italian world No.1’s impressive 73-6 record in 2024.
Moreover, Alcaraz is aware of “who’s the best” debate between him and Sinner after the two split the four majors last year.
“Jannik is the best right now. He had lost only four or five matches in the past year, so it’s crazy,” Alcaraz said in Rotterdam.
“I know people say who’s better our of us. They say Jannik is better or some say me. It’s all discussion,” he added.
ALCARAZ’S 6-4 HEAD-TO-HEAD EDGE NOT ENOUGH TO CHANGE HIS RESPECT FOR ITALIAN
Alcaraz’s 6-4 head-to-head edge over Sinner is not enough for the 21-year-old to sway his thoughts on his rival.
Moreover, the Spaniard is aware that the rest of the players in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Tour, including, have to go through Sinner.
Furthermore, Alcaraz nearly crossed paths in the Australian Open but he lost to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.
“But for me, I think for a tennis player, we have to face Jannik and he’s winning everything. He’s focused every time, so I think he’s the best,” the Spaniard said.
“Every tournament he plys, he makes the final or lifts the trophy,” he added.
SPANIARD DISAGREES WITH MOURATOGLOU OBSERVATION ON SINNER
The Spaniard disagreed on the statement made by coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
Furthermore, the coach, who served as a mentor to Naomi and Serena Williams in the past, said he wouldn’t put Sinner ahead of Alcaraz.
“I don’t agree with what Mouratoglou said,” Alcaraz said.
The coach described Alcaraz is a “real match” against Sinner if the Spaniard is at his best.
Alcaraz is returning to play again through Rotterdam since his loss to Djokovic in Melbourne.
