SAN ANTONIO GIVES POPOVICH OPTION TO COACH OR NOT, SAYS REPORT
A report from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburn and Michael C Wright said the Spurs have let Gregg Popovich to decide whether he will return to coach the team next season.
Moreover, San Antonio is leaving its 76-year-old coach to decide his own fare as he recovers from a mild stroke had in November last year.
Furthermore, lead assistant Mitch Johnson will continue to coach the lead on an interim basis until the end of the season.
“He (Popovich) has earned that (deciding his own fate),” a source told Shelburne and Wright.
Fans are hoping for a Popovich return as center Victor Wembanyama is out with a blood clot in his right shoulder that had him shut down this season.
