SWIATEK RESPECTS ‘AMAZING’ CURRY, RECALLS WATCHING WARRIORS’ GAME LIVE
Swiatek respects what she described an “amazing” Curry as she recalled the time she watched a recent Golden State Warriors’ game live.
Furthermore, the Polish women’s world No.2 tennis star was “super grateful for the reception” when the crowd cheered her as her face appeared on the Warriors’ jumbotron late last month.
Moreover, Swiatek, speaking at the Indian Wells’ pre-tournament news conference, lauded Curry for managing expectations, particularly when hitting big-time shots.
“I was super grateful for the reception, because, I don’t know, I wasn’t really expecting that. It was amazing and I really appreciate that,” the Polish tennis staer said.
“Watching Steph live was amazing, and, for sure, you can see the skills straightaway,” she added.
IGA IN INDIAN WELLS EARLY TO ‘PRACTICE IN A PEACEFUL WAY’
Swiatek arrived in Indian Wells earlier than expected so that she can “practice in a peaceful way.
Moreover, the 23-year-old Warsaw native cited the need to “have a full week of practice” in the California desert.
Furthermore, taking an early approach in preparing for Indian Wells’ should lessen any distractions as she eyes to defend her title.
“It was more for me and my game and me developing as a player,” Swiatek said.
“It was nice, because here you can really practice in a peaceful way and with no other distractions. I really enjoyed this,” she added.
GARCIA DRAWN AS POLISH STAR’S OPENING MATCH IN CALIFORNIA DESERT
Former top 10 player Caroline Garcia was drawn as Swiatek’s opening round match on Friday.
Furthermore, the Polish star had many fans expecting her to bounce back after she fell short at the Australian Open.
Moreover, Swiatek also lost to Jelena Ostapenko and Mirra Andreeva in the Middle East.
“I know that every swing is different. For example, two years ago in the Middle East I also got two walkovers. This year I didn’t,” the Pole said.
“There’s no way to compare one year to the other, because that story can be totally different,” she added.
