TEN HAG WANTS ANTONY TO FIGHT HIS PLACE IN UNITED ROTATION

Furthermore, Ten Hag wants Antony to compete against his teammates in the same position to earn his place in United’s rotation.

Moreover, the United manager urged the 24-year-old Brazilian winger to fight for his playing time.

“The players have to fight for their positions. You pick the XI who have the best dynamic, the best chemistry,” Ten Hag said regarding his player choices for a match.

“We have training every day, and the players have to earn the right. When the attitude is good and they show performances in training, then they will play,” he added.

Antony played just one minute of football in the Premier League so far this season.

He has been playing behind academy products Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho in Ten Hag’s rotation.

UNITED MANAGER ISSUES CHALLENGE TO BRAZILIAN WINGER TO GET PLAYING TIME

Moreover, the United manager issued a challenge to the Brazilian winger to get more playing time.

Furthermore, Ten Hag urges Antony to get past Marcus Rashford as well aside from Diallo and Garnacho.

“The other players are doing so well. We have Amad (Diallo), Garna (Garnacho) – very effective,” the United manager said.

“(Marcus) Rashforrd scored at the weekend (at United’s 3-0 win at Southampton). He (Antony) has to get over them,” he added.

Rashford could get his change soon as United plays in the Carabao Cup third-round tie against League One side Barnsley on Tuesday.

LUKE SHAW ‘PROGRESSING’; NO TIMETABLE SET

Furthermore, Ten Hag confirmed that Luke Shaw is “progressing” from his calf injury.

Moreover, the United coach clarified that the team is not setting any timetable for Shaw’s possible return.

“Of course, we have a plan in our head when he (Shaw) can be ready but you’re always dependent on how the progress will go,” Ten Hag said.

“You can’t make a suggestion because there are so many factors. A plan can accelerate or slow down,” he added.

Aside from Shaw, Ten Hag is also missing Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Lindelof, and Mason Mount due to injuries.
