Thomas Muller claimed it is easier to deal with Messi than Ronaldo

Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller claimed it is easier to deal with Lionel Messi than Cristiano Ronaldo as the German striker spoke to the media after eliminating PSG from the UEFA Champions League.

The Bavarian clubs defeated Messi’s side PSG with goals from Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry in the Round of 16 return leg at Allianz, to make the final 3-0 aggregate.

Muller’s reply as he compared Messi and Ronaldo

Muller, who was awarded with Man of the Match, was asked about his excellent record against Messi at the top level, and the Bayern talisman replied has since been viral on social media.

As the 33-year-old criticized the current PSG’s squad, he seemingly stressed that Bayern would love to go against Messi than Ronaldo. Meanwhile Muller was respectful of the Argentinian mega-star’s achievements but realistic about the challenges he faces at a club like Paris Saint-Germain.

“Against Messi, things always go well at all levels in terms of results. At club level, Cristiano Ronaldo was our problem when he was at Real Madrid”.

“I have the greatest respect for Messi’s World Cup performance”, he said to @georg_holzner.

“Messi’s individual performance at the World Cup was amazing,” continued Muller. “He carried the whole squad. It’s not so easy to play at a team like PSG. It’s difficult to get a really good team balance.”

In the total two seasons that Real beat Bayern and went on to win the UCL, CR7 alone scored seven goals in those three clashes during 2014 and 2017 seasons (twice).

Ronaldo, who scored 47 goals in 38 UCL games during his three-peat UCL wins while Messi struggled with Barcelona, has still by far, the UCL king.

It’s safe to say that Muller is right, as stats or numbers, do not lie.
