Kroos wins his sixth Champions League title
The 34-year-old said he will hang up his cleats after playing for Germany at Euro 2024 this summer.
Kroos ended his Madrid spell with a bang, setting up the opening goal for Dani Carvajal before being substituted to a standing ovation.
The veteran midfielder helped the club win its record 15th Champions League title at Wembley.
Even Kroos himself could not believe his own personal achievement of winning his sixth European Cup title.
“Amazing,” Kroos told CBS. “Six titles in the Champions League is crazy, something I never thought I’d achieve.”
Going out with a championship
It was not easy for Madrid to cruise past Dortmund, but Kroos’ assist paved the way for the club to win in the final.
Kroos could definitely say that he goes out on his own terms with Real Madrid.
“It seems in these games, we are unable to lose,” Kroos said. “You don’t lose finals. That’s a good base to have I guess.
“It comes about because of quality, of course, but the mentality is crazy. It’s a lot of believing. It’s what separates this club from others.”
“It could be worse. That was the plan [to end with a Champions League win], even though it’s difficult to plan this.”
