This is in fact the clash between two top-four rivals as Spurs are fighting their way to the Champions league’s spot, while the Red Devils attempt to hold firm to take control of their current position.

Erik Ten Hag’s men got their lead by Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford who scored at first half.

Two English men combined to open the scoreline early within the first seven minutes of the game as Ryan Manson endured a nightmare start to his second spell in charge of the club.

Rashford passed into Sancho, who cut inside and curled into the bottom corner for his sixth goal of the season.

Before the break, Fernandes produced a superb cross-field pass to Rashford and the England marksman raced past Eric Dier into the area before he rifled beyond Forster for his 29th goal.

Tottenham was the better as the game resumed, Perisic’s dangerous cross caused problems in the United area and while Luke Shaw blocked Harry Kane’s effort, Pedro Porro was on hand to smash home first-time from 16 yards.

Pretty late in the game, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min finished off an textbook attack to produce the equaliser.

Kane turned to Son inside the box and the Korean marksman need only one touch to restore some pride for the hosts.

Manchester United finish the evening in fourth place, two points behind Newcastle having played one game fewer.

Tottenham are fifth, six points off the Top Four pace, having played two games more than Man United.
