The 34-year-old will remain in hospital for further assessment over the coming days but so far has been confirmed stable and no longer in danger.

The London side confirmed on Sunday that he will remain in hospital and continued to be monitored over the next few days. The 34-year-old striker has received an outpouring of support from the football community and will be in the thoughts of everyone at the London Stadium on Monday night when the Hammers take on Wolves in a crucial Premier League game.

What happened to Michail Antonio?

Antonio suffered a fractured lower limb and has undergone surgery in hospital after crashing his Ferrari in Essex on Saturday. According to sources, he was dazed and confused after the terrifying crash and was stuck inside his £260,000 car for nearly an hour while the emergency services battled to free him from the wreckage.

“Everyone at the club wishes Michail a speedy recovery and wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the football family at large for the overwhelming support shown since [Saturday’s] news,” a West Ham statement read.

“As well as extending a heartfelt thank you to the emergency services and first responders who attended to Michail in the immediate aftermath of the incident, and the medical team who continue to aid him in his recovery.”

Antonio has featured in all 14 of West Ham’s Premier League matches this season and is considered a legend for his side, having won the Conference League 2022/23 under Moyes.
