After the party, the Brazilian learned he wouldn’t win the Ballon d’Or, which was a massive blow for the Real Madrid winger.
Not just that, Vini Jr had been so convinced he would claim the prize that he even promised to gift each Real Madrid player a Rolex watch.
Rodri won the Ballon d’Or 2024 as Vinicius Jr finished second.
Rodri beat Vini Jr on the race’s final day as the Brazilian was initially expected to win the Ballon d’Or. Real Madrid players and Vinicius teammates from the national team have posted on X/Twitter to protest the France Football’s ceremony. Meanwhile, none of Los Blancos’ players or managers showed up as a gesture to support Vini.
“I’ll do it 10x if I have to. They’re not ready,” Vinicius Jr has tweeted.
For Man City and Spain National Team ace Rodri, the newest Ballon d’Or winner tipped that Barcelona golden boy Lamine Yamal will win the next elite prize.
Rodri said during the ceremony, “Lamine Yamal will win the Ballon d’Or very soon. I’m convinced of it. “
“Keep it up, keep working hard, you’ll get there.
“There was only one player who told me I would win it tonight… that was you Lamine,” the 28-year-old added.
While Rodri has won the prize, Lamine Yamal finished 8th in the overall rankings.
The 17-year-old also claimed the Kopa Trophy given to the best young player of the previous season.
