Vinicius tallies 100 Real Madrid goals
A brace from Rodrygo, including one flawless assist from Jude Bellingham, put Madrid 2-0 up at halftime at the Santiago Bernabeu, before Kylian Mbappe added a third.
Vinicius also scored a brace of his own, as Madrid secured a place in the playoffs for the knockout phase.
The Brazil international has now scored 101 goals for the Spanish giants in all competitions.
“I’m very happy after reaching 100 goals with this shirt,” Vinicius told Movistar.
“I hope to continue like this, score many more goals, and mark an era in this team—that’s my dream.”
Vinicius is closing in on Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario, who scored 104 in five years at Madrid between 2002 and 2007.
“I’m three goals away from Ronaldo, from being the Brazilian with most goals in this shirt. Let’s hope I can score more.”
Vinicius credits his teammates
Vinicius was surprised to learn that he had been named MVP in the game against Salzburg.
“I had the feeling that I couldn’t play well in the first half,” he said.
Nonetheless, the forward gave credit to Rodrygo and Bellingham, after the England star set up the game’s second goal with a clever backheel.
“Rodry deserved it, Jude too, and a lot of players. But I’m happy with the win and goals, even when I played badly.”
“It’s very easy to play with Jude, with the movements he makes, the passes he gives you. The second assist was beautiful, I love playing with him.”
