Roque heads to Real Betis on loan
Roque, 19, signed with Barca in January worth an initial €35 million.
Betis will pay Roque’s salary in total and can extend the Brazilian’s loan to a second season.
Roque only made 16 appearances but scored twice as Robert Lewandowski’s replacement.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick said Roque will see more opportunities to flourish outside the team.
“Some situations, also for the player, sometimes it’s good,” Flick said. “I cannot speak about just what I heard, when I spoke with him. He came in a situation it was not easy for him.
“It’s a good chance for him to play, he’s doing a lot of things really great. He’s a really good guy and fingers are crossed that he’s playing really well and improve.”
Making way for Olmo
Meanwhile, the new signing, Dani Olmo, missed Barcelona’s two games this season because the Catalan club has already spent more than its league-imposed limit.
Nonetheless, Barcelona is making way for Olmo, who signed from RB Leipzig and is worth €55 million.
French centre-back Clement Lenglet has joined Atletico Madrid on loan after extending his Barca contract until 2027.
Defender Mika Faye joined Rennes on Sunday for an initial €10.3m fee.
