Joao Cancelo latest situation
During yesterday’s training for the substitutes of Bayern Munich, he appeared ‘withdrawn’ and hardly spoke to his teammates.
The reason could be that the full-back only played 12 minutes in the last 2 games. ‘Frustrated’, that the word to describe the player as of now.
Limited game time for Cancelo
The man who was named in FIFPRO XI 2022 was on the bench for 90 mins after playing just 12’ last game vs Union.
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann:
“João’s handling the situation well. I don’t have impression that he’s breaking off. Stanišić is a bit more defensive, that’s the reason”.
Upon his decision to leave Man City mid-season, Cancelo said:
“I need to play to be happy. I respect Guardiola’s decision, for me it was easy to accept Bayern as they have a great history”, tells O Jogo.
“Bayern have an option to buy, I don’t know if they will pay that but I will give my best for the club”
Will Cancelo start against PSG?
The chance for the 28-year-old defender to be in Nagelsmann’s starting XI against PSG is slim. According to sources close to the Bundesliga’s side, Cancelo will again, be on the bench in the return leg, with Stanisic is likely to start.
Bayern will take PSG at home in the second leg of UEFA Champions League return leg of Round of 16 this week.
Meanwhile, Bayern are still in every competition this season, and that could likely be promising for Cancelo until the rest of the season.
