Two wins in two games for Germany
Smashing Scotland 5-1 and then 2-0 against Hungary, Germany have won the first two games of an EURO tournament for the first time since 2012 and for the fourth time after 1980, 1996 and 2012.
7-goal record
Germany is the second team in history to score seven goals in the first two games of a UEFA European Championship campaign, alongside the Netherlands at EURO 2008.
7 is also more goals scored than they have in the group stages at any other European Championship tournament. The last time they scored as many at a major tournament was the 2014 World Cup.
Musiala’s talent
Jamie Musiala has been sweeping the Germans off their feet with his talent, having performed outstandingly at his debut.
The Bayern Munich youngster scored his second EURO goal at 21 years, three months and 23 days – only four players have done this younger: Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ferenc Bene and Mikkel Damsgaard.
Toni Kroos’s masterclass
It’s easy to see how Kroos’s return to the national team is worth the hype.
The retiring midfielder completed 124 passes in Germany’s win over Hungary, the second most on record by a midfielder in a UEFA European Championship game, behind only Xavi’s 127 successful passes for Spain against Republic of Ireland at EURO 2012.
