Spain kickstarted their EURO 2024 with an impressive 3-0 victory over Croatia at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Spain beats Croatia in EURO 2024 opening week
Goals from Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz, and Dani Carvajal in the first-half already sealed the deal for La Roja.
Ruiz dished out a precise pass towards Morata to score his 36th goal for the country in the 29th minute.
Three minutes later, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder extended the lead by heading past Dominic Livakovic.
Carvajal then turned Lamine Yamal’s cross into Spain’s third and final goal of the matchup.
“We need to stay calm”
Despite the empathic win, Spain head coach Luis De La Fuente wants his squad to remain grounded and focused in their Group B campaign.
Spain is set for a EURO 2020 finals rematch against Spain on Thursday.
“I am very pleased. Of course it gives us a big boost and calmness as well,” said Spain head coach Luis De La Fuente. “But in five days we such an important game, against Italy.
“Above all, we need to stay calm. Our target is still very far away and we have to just keep our feet on the ground.”
“Part of my job is doing that. We cannot control what happens on the outside but we must control internally, inside the training camp. That’s the message we want to send out – that we need to stay wary. We have to feel proud as well as motivated, but we have to keep improving in the next game because that is how we will go far.”
“The country is going to be very excited, but we are aware of that and of the euphoria, so we have to just stay calm and be professional, because staying calm is power.”

Yamal, Carvajal make history
Elsewhere, Yamal became the youngest player to suit up in the tournament after starting at the age of 16 years and 338 days.
Meanwhile, Carvajal became the Spain’s oldest goal scorer at the European Championship at 32 years and 156 days.
