Barcelona set the record of most goals scored in their history while the Catalan side winger Raphinha becomes first player to hit each double digits in goals (12) and assists (10).

Barcelona continues the momentum as Raphinha on fire

Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde were the stars of Wednesday night in Serbia as they smashed the home side’s defence in the 5-2 Champions League win.

The La Liga side has scored 55 goals in their first 16 games of a single season in all competitions for the first time in their history (overpassing 54 goals scored in 1950/51 under Ferdinand Daucik), according to Opta.

With the latest victory against Serbian side, Barca will soon manag to get into the ‘TOP 8’ of the Champions League. In this way, the Catalans would qualify directly for the round of 16

In the new format of the continental tournament, the top eight teams in the league phase directly advance to the round of 16. As of today, the only Spanish team in these places is FC Barcelona (6th), while Real Madrid (18th) and Atlético de Madrid (23rd) would fight for their place in the playoffs, which are accessed by the teams that finish the league phase between 9th and 24th position.
